Erasmus Mundus Master in Food Innovation and Product Design
FIPDes qualifies you to cope with the huge challenges in the sector of food innovation along with product design and packaging, FIPDes encourages your aptitude to meet future developments.
The EMMC-FIPDes adopts an integrated approach “from materials to packaged product”, including technical, entrepreneurial and culinary knowledge in food innovation.
Up to 25 students are selected each year (scholarship holders and self/externally-funded students).
Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available for EU and non-EU students.
Application procedure
The EMMC-FIPDes is open to 25 well-motivated students from EU and not EU countries.
Applications are open every year from 1st of October to 15th of January.
- Final decision by the EACEA is expected mid-April.
- Candidates who do not fulfill the admission criteria may be informed in early February.
- Candidates who do not fulfil selection criteria may be informed in early March.
- Self/externally-funded candidates are selected in May/June.
Application to the EMMC-FIPDes programme is made with the online application tool.
The following documents must be included in the application:
- Completed application form (using the provided online tool)
- Scan of Passport (with photo, date of expiry and personal details)
- Curriculum Vitae (in European Format, see the Europass Website)
- Letter of Motivation (please indicate at the end of your letter the name, institution and email of two persons who can give us further information about you)
- Copy of BSc-degree or equivalent (Official copy required, certificates older than 2 years will not be accepted)
- Translation of Diploma (if applicable, official translation in English or one of the languages of the Partner Universities)
- Transcripts of academic records (official signed and stamped transcripts with explanation of the grading system, and, if applicable, official translation in English or one of the languages of the Partner Universities)
- Two reference letters (signed and stamped; a form is available on the FIPDes website)
- Proof of English Proficiency (for non-native speakers, at least one of the following : official test results, official University Certificate if English was your medium of Instruction, official certificate (from employer or other as applicable) if you have been resident in an English-speaking country for more than a year)
- Not compulsory: abstract of thesis (summary of thesis you wrote for your BSc/MSc degree)
Please note that incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.
Non-EU and EU students can apply for up to three Erasmus Mundus Master Courses each year. However, a student can benefit only once from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship. In the case that the applicant is selected for more than one Master Course, he/she must decide which one he/she wants to follow.
Admission criteria
The FIPDes consortium selects the students that meet the following formal admission conditions:
- BSc degree or equivalent degree of at least 180 higher education credits in food science and technology, biotechnology, process engineering, biochemistry or related fields with a number of prerequisites (e.g. chemistry, biotechnology, process technology/engineering, biochemistry, mathematics, statistics) representing at least three years of study from a foreign institute of higher education.
- Grade point average of at minimum 70% of the maximum score.
- English language proficiency level ("B level", advanced) demonstrated in one of the following ways:
- TOEFL at level 575
- Internet-based TOEFL 90
- IELTS 6.5
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency
- Students with English as their mother tongue
- Students who have completed a higher education degree with English as a medium of instruction
- exemptions can exceptionnally be made for outstanding students with a lower English proficiency level
- Respect of the application deadline.
Selection criteria
After verifying the admission criteria, students will be selected based on the following qualitative selection criteria:
- List of subjects taken during the BSc level with grades obtained
- Educational background including the world ranking of the university graduating the student and the grade of qualification obtained
- Some excellence criteria : experience in laboratory work and/or cooking; additional training/ courses/ workshops (which are not a part of a regular study programme); Participation in conferences and/or publishing of papers in peer reviewed scientific journals; international and work experience.

Erasmus Mundus Masters in Public Health
The EUROPUBHEALTH Erasmus Mundus Masters course provides a high level education in the field of public health.
Its main goal is to enable the students to improve health of specific population groups and the population as a whole through :

It is designed to provide students with methods, analytical tools and conceptual knowledge required to understand public health issues.
It is based on the acquisition of academic knowledge and basic savoir-faire related to public health as well as all the necessary skills for the various functions that the students, as future public health professionals, will embrace at the local level, regional, national, European or international, in the public or the private sectors.
EUROPUBHEALTH : a two year masters course
EUROPUBHEALTH is a two year Erasmus Mundus Masters Course (120 ECTS)
- In first year, the curriculum covers the basic issues of public health. It is offered in Spain or United Kingdom.
- In second year, the student specialises in a particular subject.
Europubhealth offers 7 specialisations based on the fields of excellence of the six member universities of the consortium.
During this specialisation year, students carry out research work (dissertation) and a practical placement.
Each student selects one specialisation and attends the courses in a country that must be different from year 1 (Denmark, Poland, Spain or France).
At the end of each academic year of the Master, two integration modules bring together all Europubhealth students for international and cross disciplinary work at the end of each academic year.

Europubhealth Masters course is supported by the Erasmus Mundus programme launched by the European Commission in early 2004.
ERASMUS MUNDUS offers scholarship to students for studying abroad.

To be eligible for the grant, the students must choose a combination of pathway that allows them to spend their study period in, at least, two of the European partner countries which must be different from the country in which the scholarship holder has obtained his/her last university degree.

Erasmus Mundus Master in Geospatial Technologies: 18 scholarships
Geographic Information is a rapidly growing economical sector: it is suggested, that 80 % of all decisions in Economy and Politics have a spatial relation. The goal of the Masters program in Geospatial Technologies is to form specialists able to carry out a wide variety of geospatial projects in industry and academics.
The Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies qualifies for a professional career in the following domains:
- Private sector: GI applications and consulting in the domains of regional planning, landscape planning, financial services industry, energy providing industry, transportation, agriculture and forestry, and retailing/marketing;
- Research: Applied sciences at universities and other research institutions;
- Public sector: GI applications and consulting in local and regional administrations, especially in cadastre and different types of planning (e.g., regional, traffic, ecology).
The Master's program targets holders of a Bachelor's degree with a qualification in application areas of Geographic Information (GI), e.g., environmental planning, regional planning, geography, logistics, transportation, marketing, energy provision, computer science.

Computer Vision PhD scholarships for a robot pruning project
Applications are invited for two PhD scholarships at the University of Canterbury in the field of Computer Vision. These posts are part of the MSI funded project 'Vision-Based Automated Pruning' which aims to develop a robot system for pruning plants. As members of the project team the successful applicants will have the opportunity to combine leading computer vision research with a challenging real-world application.
The PhD student will work closely with a team of mathematicians, engineers, and computer scientists on a commercially-oriented project. The project provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills which are in high demand in both academia and industry, including scientific software engineering and the application of mathematics, statistics, and the latest algorithms. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in either mathematics or computer science, will have the ability to learn a range of new skills and keep up-to-date with the latest research, and will have the enthusiasm and motivation necessary to conduct innovative research in an exciting and fast-moving field of study.
Two scholarships are available and cover full fees (for domestic or international students) and a stipend of NZ$30,000 per annum. Additional support for equipment, travel, and conference attendance will also be available through the project. The two key areas of research are:
Recovery of three-dimensional structure of vines from vision and range-based cameras. We seek to establish a mm-accurate colour depth map of the vines through a combination of multi-camera stereo, range cameras, and sensor fusion.
Construction of detailed 3D models of the vines from this three-dimensional imagery. This will include models of the branching structure, orientation, and bud locations of the vines, as well as analysis of the images for signs of disease or damage to the vines.
Successful applicants should have an Honours degree or higher in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Mechatronics or a related discipline and should possess:
Strong ability in mathematical modelling and analysis.
Computer programming for scientific applications, preferably with knowledge of C/C++.
Experience/knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
Reconstruction of depth from stereo images
Sensor fusion
Concurrent and real time image processing
Numerical optimisation
Shape analysis and statistical modelling
Image classification and texture analysis

Most Expensive Cars In The World: Top 10 List 2011-2012
World's Most Expensive Cars
What is the most expensive car in the world? The 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe was sold for $8,700,000 in 1987. However, that car and many alike will not be included in this list because it is not available on the market today. It is hard to imagine someone would actually spend 8 million dollars on a car instead of using it for something more productive. However, if you had the money and opportunity, you would probably spend a small fraction of it on a collection of supercars for your private garage.
Here are the 10 most expensive production cars on the market; we will not include concept cars.
1. Bugatti Veyron Super Sports $2,400,000. This is by far the most expensive street legal car available on the market today (the base Veyron costs $1,700,000). It is the fastest accelerating car reaching 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. It is also the fastest street legal car when tested again on July 10, 2010 with the 2010 Super Sport Version reaching a top speed of 267 mph. When competing against the Bugatti Veyron, you better be prepared!

2. Pagani Zonda Clinque Roadster $1,850,000. One of the most exotic cars out there is one of the most expensive. It can go from 0-60 in 3.4 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph.

3. Lamborghini Reventon $1,600,000. The most powerful and the most expensive Lamborghini ever built is the third on the list. It takes 3.3 seconds to reach 60 mph and it has a top speed of 211 mph. Its rarity (limited to 20) and slick design are the reasons why it is so expensive and costly to own.
3. Koenigsegg Agera R $1,600,000. The Agera R can burn 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, reaching a maximum speed of 260 mph. It has the parts to reach 270 mph, but the supercar is electronically capped at 235 mph. With the completion of certain paperwork, the company will unlock the speed limit for one occasion.

4. McLaren F1 $970,000. In 1994, the McLaren F1 was the fastest and most expensive car. Even though it was built 15 years ago, it has an unbelievable top speed of 240 mph and reaching 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Even today, the McLaren F1 is still top on the list and outperforms many other supercars.
5. Ferrari Enzo $670,000. The most popular supercar ever built. The Enzo has a top speed of 217 mph and reaching 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. Only 400 units were produced and it is currently being sold for over $1,000,000 at auctions.
6. Pagani Zonda C12 F $667,321. Produced by a small independent company in Italy, the Pagani Zonda C12 F is the 6th most expensive car in the world. It promises to delivery a top speed of 215 mph+ and it can reach 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.

7. SSC Ultimate Aero $654,400. Don't let the price tag fool you, the 7th most expensive car is actually the 3rd fastest street legal car in the world with a top speed of 257 mph+ and reaching 0-60 in 2.7 seconds. This baby cost less than half as much as the Bugatti Veyron, yet has enough power to compete against the most expensive car. It is estimated that only 25 of this exact model will ever be produced.

8. Ascari A10 $650,000. This badboy can reach a tested top speed of 215 mph, zooming 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. The British car company plans to assemple 50 of these supercars in their factory in Banbury, England.

9. Saleen S7 Twin Turbo $555,000. The first true American production certified supercar, this cowboy is also rank 4th for the fastest car in the world. It has a top speed of 248 mph+ and it can reach 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. If you are a true American patriot, you can be proud to show off this car.
10. Koenigsegg CCX $545,568. Swedish made, the Koenigsegg is fighting hard to become the fastest car in the world. Currently, it is the 5th fastest car in the world with a top speed of 245 mph+, the car manufacture Koenigsegg has just released the Koenigsegg Agera R to compete against the Bugatti Veyron. The company is a tough contender and will continue to try and produce the fastest car in the world. Good luck with that!

headed by Prof. Thomas Brox has openings for 2 PhD positions. We are
seeking applicants with a strong interest in vision and learning.
Successful candidates will join a young and dynamic research group pursuing research that has strong impact in the field. The group’s core research areas are video analysis and learning from video. You will work mainly on developing new learning methods for part-based recognition models.
The positions are fully funded with a salary according to German VL13 (approximately 39k-42k Euro depending on proficiency). The positions come with direct supervision by the professor and support to enable completion of the thesis within 3 years. Funding for up to 2 more years is available.
The University of Freiburg is one of the nine top universities in Germany, with the Computer Vision Group being directly involved in the BIOSS cluster of excellence. The Department of Computer Science hosts many great scientists, among them renowned experts in Robotics
