Australia : IWC Masters Scholarship


The International WaterCentre’s Masters Scholarships are now open to study the Master of Integrated Water Management in Australia next year.

Using problem-based and experiential learning, IWC students create and implement integrated solutions to real-world water and climate change challenges. The degree is co-badged and co-delivered by four leading Australian universities: The University of Queensland, Griffith University, Monash University and The University of Western Australia.

Eligibility
Those interested in applying for an IWC Masters Scholarship must meet the minimum eligibility requirements of the Masters program:

•  A minimum of two years practical experience in a related field is preferred but not essential.

HEC Need Based Scholarships, Pakistan
Higher Education Commission (HEC) aims to elevate the socio-economic position of the needy & deserving students by providing access to quality education through needs-based scholarships. Government of Pakistan (GOP) has also duly acknowledged the financial constraints barring students from acquiring higher education and has thus earmarked substantial funds for the improvement of education sector.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

1.  Scholarships are available at undergraduate & graduate levels in the prescribed disciplines at the Partner Pakistani Universities and Degree Awarding Institutions.

2.  Students need to secure admission in the approved discipline at the participating institution as per their admission policy and be enrolled in Undergraduate / Graduate programs.

3.  Only those students who will enroll in first professional year in the respective courses offered by the participating institutions are eligible to apply.

4.  The eligibility of a candidate is linked to neediness of the candidate as determined & assessed by the financial background of his/her family.

The filled application should be returned to relevant Financial Aid Offices where the applicant intends to secure admission.

Curtin International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (CIPRS)


Curtin International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (CIPRS), Curtin University, Australia
The CIPRS is available to any international student wishing to commence a Higher Degree by Research at Curtin for the first time in 2013. This scholarship is awarded to students to attract top quality international postgraduate students to areas of research strength in the Australian higher education sector and support Australia’s research effect.

The CIPRS provides:
  • Course tuition fee for two years for a Master's (by Research) and a maximum of three and a half years for a Doctoral degree; and
  • awardee are usually offered a stipend from either Faculty/government project or external organisation funding equivalent to the amount of an APA award.

Eligibility criteria

The award is open to citizens of an overseas country (excluding New Zealand).

Scholarships will be awarded on academic merit and research capacity to suitably qualified overseas graduates eligible to commence a higher degree by research in 2013.

John Allwright Fellowship, Australia


John Allwright Fellowship, Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR)
The ACIAR Fellowships Scheme was introduced in 1986 to provide the opportunity for partner country scientists involved in ACIAR-supported collaborative research projects to obtain postgraduate qualifications at Australian tertiary institutions.

Eligibility:
Although applications are welcome from project staff in both bilateral and multilateral (IARC) projects
  • Applicants must be citizens of a current ACIAR bilateral partner priority country. Currently, these are: Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands (Fiji, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu,  Tonga, Samoa, Kiribati); South East Asia (East Timor, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines); South Asia (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan); Northern Asia (Western China) and the Republic of South Africa and other African countries with ACIAR projects
  • Applicants must also be citizens of the country in which they are working. To be eligible for selection, a candidate must:
    • At the time of applying, hold qualifications that would be assessed to be equivalent to at least an Australian bachelor’s degree in a discipline that is relevant to the proposed area of postgraduate study;
    • Be a scientist or economist from the developing country partner, who is actively involved in a collaborative research project supported by ACIAR at the time of application (in some cases, ACIAR will consider supporting researchers from “advanced pipeline” projects, i.e. in cases where a full project proposal has been approved by ACIAR);
    • Be jointly supported in the application by the Australian and partner country Project Leaders;
    • Obtain approval from both the employing institution and home government training authority who must agree to the absence of the candidate should he/she receive a Fellowship for the period involved in obtaining the postgraduate qualification; and
    • Demonstrate that he/she is employed on a permanent rather than short-term contract basis.

Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students


Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology
USST administers 3 types of international students scholarship offered by the Shanghai Municipal Government in an attempt to encourage excellent international students and scholars to study at USST.

I. Types of scholarship and who shall apply
Type A (full scholarship)
It is granted to excellent international students who will apply for Master/Doctor degree program in USST
Type B (partial scholarship?
It is granted to excellent international students who will apply for Bachelor/Master/Doctor degree program in USST
Type C (scholarship for outstanding students)
It is granted to outstanding international students who take long term degree program in USST.
II. The scholarship contains:
Type A (full scholarship)
Students who are granted the type A scholarship will be exempt from application fee, tuition, elementary learning materials expense and lodging expense and will be provided with comprehensive medical insurances for free. The Master’s and Doctoral degree candidates will enjoy monthly living allowance of CNY2,000 RMB and CNY1,700 respectively.
Type B (partial scholarship?
Students who are granted the type B scholarship will be exempt from application fee, tuition, elementary learning materials expense.
Type C (scholarship for outstanding students)
It is established to encourage the currently enrolled excellent international students who are pursuing long-term study at higher educational institutions in Shanghai. The winners will receive a one-off scholarship in an academic year.
III. Prerequisites of the applicants
1. Non-Chinese citizen in good health
2. Applicants pursuing Bachelor’s degree should hold High School degree diploma or the equivalent and should be under the age of 25. In addition, the applicant can only apply for Type B or Type C scholarships.
Applicants pursuing Master’s degree should hold Bachelor degree diploma or the equivalent and should not be over the age of 35.
Applicants pursuing Doctor’s degree should hold Master degree diploma or the equivalent and should not be over the age of 40.
3. The applicants should have excellent academic records.
4. The applicants should be in default of any other Chinese government scholarship.

Fully-funded PhD Studentships, Swansea University


Medicine: 2 Fully-funded PhD Studentships on Population Biology and Evolution of Bacterial Pathogens of Public Health Importance, Swansea University, UK
Swansea University's College of Medicine invites applications for two fully-funded PhD studentships in Microbiology. The successful applicants will join a multi-centre research group (Swansea University and Imperial College) focusing on population biology and evolution of bacterial pathogens of public health importance.

Residency criteria:
UK/EU/International applications are welcomed. Due to funding restrictions this studentship will only cover fees at a UK/EU level (2012/13 tuition fee UK/EU £3930, International £13,700).
Qualifications and experience:
First or upper second class UK degree (or equivalent) in Microbiology, Statistics, Bioinformatics or a relevant subject area.

Studentship position 1 - Statistical geneticist or computer scientist
You should have a good knowledge of at least one mainstream programming language such as C, Java, Python or Perl. Some experience of statistical data analysis, and especially computer intensive techniques such as Monte Carlo methods, are desirable. No previous knowledge of microbiology, genetics or evolution is required, but candidates should be enthused to learn about these subjects.

Studentship position 2 - Microbiologist (genetics/genomics)
You should have expertise or interest in molecular techniques (PCR, sequencing) and computer-based genetic analysis, but training and support will be provided to strengthen these areas. Previous experience in a microbiology or molecular biology laboratory or in bioinformatics research is also strongly desirable.
