The Government of the Republic of Slovenia Scholarships 2012-2013

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia announces a limited number of scholarships for the academic year 2012/13 (from 1. 10. 2012 until 30. 9. 2013) on the basis of bilateral agreement and reciprocity basis for the following countries:
Belgium – Flanders, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Japan, Macedonia, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, PR of China, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Switzerland and Turkey.

The scholarships are open to foreign students who wish to come to Slovenia as an exchange student. The main purpose of the scholarship scheme is to support foreign students who wish to undertake a part of their study (undergraduate or postgraduate) on the individual basis under the supervision of Slovenian lecturer.
Study Period: The duration of an individual scholarship can be up to 10 months. Minimum duration is 3 months.
Fields of Study: The scholarship can be awarded for any field of study offered by the Slovene higher education institutions.
Student Status: The applicant must be enroled at the institution in their home country and come to Slovenia as an exchange student. Scholarships are not complementary: students can have only one scholarship, regardless of its source.
Study Level:  The scholarship cannot be awarded for a complete course of study leading to a degree. Neither can the scholarship be granted for any Slovene language course. Scholarship fees are not refundable through this scholarship. Possible exceptions must be determined in the bilateral agreement of the Republic of Slovenia with the concerned country.
Language of Instruction: The candidates should speak Slovene or the working language agreed upon with the mentor/supervisor.

Scholarship

The scholarship covers:
  • accommodation in the facilities of the Student Centre of the Universities if the student requires it (paid for by the Ministry directly);
  • basic medical insurance for time being in Slovenia as an exchange student and for non-EU students if there is no bilateral agreement on health insurance between the Republic of Slovenia and the applicant’s home country (paid for directly by the Ministry);
  • 253 EUR monthly subsistence.

Eligibility

The scholarships are open to students from Belgium – Flanders, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Israel, Japan, Macedonia, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, PR of China, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Switzerland and Turkey, not older than 30 years.

Application

The candidates should address themselves to the authorities of their country that are competent to collect the applications and to select and recommend candidatures. Individual applications sent to CMEPIUS are not eligible. For exact information regarding the responsible authority in own country the candidates should contact the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in their country.
The list of nominated candidates of the competent authority of each country, together with complete application form in three (3) copies (one original and 2 copies) with accompanying annexes have to be sent to the Slovenian National Agency – CMEPIUS.
Deadline for applications is April 30, 2012 (per post-mark).
The candidates and the respective authorities will be notified of the results by the CMEPIUS in June 2012.

M.S. Scholarship Opportunity at SeoulTech in Korea

Centre of Excellence in Farm Business Management Masters Scholarships, New Zealand

Brief description

The Centre of Excellence in Farm Business Management Masters Scholarships are awarded for the purpose of supporting postgraduate study and research in farm business management at Lincoln University and Massey University. 
The number of scholarships to be awarded in any year shall be determined by the Director of the Centre of Excellence in Farm Business Management (thereafter referred to as ‘the Director’ ). 
 

Eligibility


  • Scholarships will be open to full-time students eligible to register for a research based Masters degree at Lincoln University or Massey University.
  • A scholarship may be awarded to a person who is not eligible to register as a candidate for the thesis year of their Masters degree at Lincoln University or Massey University, provided he or she becomes eligible to so register by 1 March in the year following the award.
  • The scholarship will lapse if the candidate is not registered for the Masters degree by the date established in 3(2) above or those established under special provision.

BBC World Service/London Met Scholarship

London Metropolitan University and BBC World Service are pleased to announce a joint scholarship programme for postgraduate students from Central Asia.

  • Applicants must have excellent results in their bachelors degree from a recognised university.

PhD Position in Bionanotechnology for Interactions for Biosensing at Radboud University

Brief description

A PhD position is immediately available in the fields of microRNA biology and bionanotechnology. MicroRNAs have been established as key regulators of protein expression and their aberrant regulation in humans is associated with many serious diseases. In this project you will push the detection limit of miRNAs for prediagnostic and diagnostic purposes using a multidisciplinary approach involving molecular biology/biochemistry, chemical biology and single-molecule techniques. As a PhD student, you will be part of a multidisciplinary and multinational team, working in a vibrant research environment. Your project is integrated in a programme in which 11 Dutch academic groups and two companies work together on key questions regarding bionanosensing technology and applications. 
 

Scholarships value

We offer you:
  • employment: 1,0 fte;
  • a maximum gross monthly salary of € 2,612 based on a 38-hour working week;
  • in addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
  • the gross starting salary amounts to € 2,042 per month based on full time employment, and will increase to € 2,612 per month in the fourth year;
  • duration of the contract: 4 years;
  • you will be appointed for an initial period of 18 months, after which your performance will be evaluated. If the evaluation is positive, the contract will be extended by 2.5 years. 

Eligibility

You should have a PhD degree with a strong background in molecular biology/biochemistry, chemical biology or biophysics. Experience with bioanalytical techniques, bioconjugation, nucleic acid and surface chemistry is desired. You should have a keen interest in multidisciplinary research, good social and communication skills, be pro-active and able to familiarize yourself quickly with new techniques. Good writing and presentation skills and a profound knowledge of the English language are essential. Your creativity and drive should help us contribute to the development of next-generation biosensor technology.

Scholarships details of PhD Position in Bionanotechnology for Interactions for Biosensing

Post Doctoral Scholarship in Economics and/or Management Science


COHERE – Centre of Health Economics Research (Department of Business and Economics) at The University of Southern Denmark in Odense is advertising a Post Doctoral scholarship to be filled as soon as possible. The position is part of a research project entitled ‘Hospital of the Future’ funded by The Danish Strategic Research Council.

‘Hospital of the Future’
The project is concerned with development, adaption, and testing of methods from microeconomics and management science with the general aim of increasing hospital efficiency and effectiveness, for instance optimized patient pathways, capacity planning and utilization, and incentive schemes The project has three pillars, each consisting of a number of work packages, l. Logistics and production planning; 2. Incentives; and 3. Productivity measurement and economies of scale and scope.
It is an important objective to test the methods in close collaboration with clinicians and

The Post Doctoral Scholarship must be within one of the above mentioned three pillars.
Research environment
‘Hospital of the Future’ is a research consortium with researchers from the University of Southern Denmark and the Danish Institute of Health Services Research and Copenhagen Business School. The research unit of health economics at University of Southern Denmark is the leading and largest group of health economists in Denmark with a good publication record. ‘Hospital of the Future’ will mainly be embedded in this vibrant environment and the Department of Business and Economics. The successful applicant will become part of the team for the relevant pillar.
Requirements
The successful applicant for a post doc. holds a PhD in economics or management
science/operations research, has shown research potential through the PhD dissertation, and ideally has already published in scientific journals. The application must include a synopsis of 5-10 pages describing ideas related to one or more of the three project pillars. Dialogue with one of the below mentioned contact persons is possible.
Successful post doc. applicants must have a genuine interest in applied and policy oriented research within one or more of the work packages of the project apart from a sound theoretical background. The institutional setting is the Danish hospital sector. Applicants not having such prior knowledge must acquire it early on to be able to do policy relevant research and to collaborate with hospital staff.
For non-Danes the successful applicant must acquire knowledge of Danish language, in particular reading skills, during the first year of the position. Post docs. are expected to participate actively in departmental activities and activities related to the overall project on ‘Hospital of the Future’.
Post doc. projects must be completed in 2 years with Odense as place of employment.
