PhD Position in Economics at the University of Konstanz, Germany

The new chair of "International and Monetary Macroeconomics" (Volker Hahn, http://www.cer.ethz.ch/mip/people/vhahn/) at the University of Konstanz invites applications for a position as a research assistant. Gross salary will be 50% of a full time position in accordance with the regulations of German TV-L13.

The position is available from March, 2012, for an initial duration of three years (with a possible extension). The successful candidate will contribute to the chair's research and teaching responsibilities. She or he is expected to participate in the Doctoral Programme in Quantitative Economics and Finance at the University of Konstanz (http://www.wiwi.uni-konstanz.de/econdoc/).

Applicants should have excellent analytical and mathematical skills as well as an interest in the research questions addressed by the chair. A very good scientific graduate degree in economics, mathematics, physics, or related fields is mandatory. Fluency in English is required.

MASTER AND DOCTORAL INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP AT CHONGQING UNIVERSITY FROM CHINESE GOVERNMENT, 2012-2013

The Chinese Government Scholarship 2012-2013 is now available for overseas students to pursue master’s degree or doctor’s degree at Chongqing University.

Note:   1) Applicants shall only apply for full-time degree program at Chongqing University.
2) HSK level 4 or above certificate is required for Chinese-instructed degree program applicants. Students may apply for a one-year Chinese foundation program and must pass HSK test before starting their major courses.
3) For English-instructed degree program applicants, applicants are supposed to submit IELTS 6.0 or equivalent language proficiency certificate. Students who are accepted and do not obtain language proficiency certificates may take TOEFL ITP in the first semester at Chongqing University.
Eligibility
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.
2. Education background and age limit:
-   Applicants for master degree studies must have a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.
-   Applicants for Doctoral degree studies must have a master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
Scholarships Value/Inclusions
-     Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for basic learning materials and on-campus accommodation;
-     Living allowance and a one-off settlement subsidy for new overseas students;
-     Fee for outpatient medical service, Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China;
-     Fee for a one-off inter-city travel by train;
Note:   1) Costs of the laboratory experiment or internship beyond the university’s arrangements should be paid by the student him/herself.
2) Fee for basic learning materials covers the necessary learning materials prescribed by the host institution, and other materials shall be paid by the student him/herself.
3)  Monthly living allowance is paid to the students by the host institution at the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):
-    Master degree students, general scholars: CNY 1,700 Yuan
-    Doctoral degree students, senior scholars: CNY 2,000 Yuan
4) A one-off settlement subsidy after registration
-   CNY 1,500 Yuan for new overseas students who will study in China over one academic year or more
5) Fee for outpatient medical service refers to the outpatient expense incurred in the CQU hospital or the hospitals appointed by CQU. The students should pay a certain percentage of expense in accordance with the institution’s relevant regulations.
6) Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China is insured by Ministry of Education of China for the scholarship students in China against diseases and accidents. The institution is entitled to ask for compensation on the payment receipts from the insurance company for the expenses generated from hospitalizing for serious diseases or from accidental injury according to the stipulated insurance articles.
7) A one-off inter-city travel ticket (each for coming-in and leaving China)
Scholarship students are supposed to choose the nearest port to their admitting institutions for inter-city travel and a hard-seat train ticket (hard-berth train ticket for overnight trip) will be provided to freshmen transferring from the port of entry to the city where the admitting institution is located and students finishing study in China transferring from the city where the institution is located to the nearest port for departure. Expenses for food during the trip and excess of baggage should be self-afforded.
8) International travel expenses shall be self-afforded.
Application Procedures
1.  Applicants are required to fill the application form online and submit application materials by post to Chongqing University International Student Office.
2.  Chongqing University International Student Office will inform the scholarship applicants of final results and send Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to Scholarship applicants accepted by July 30th 2012.
3.  Students are not permitted, in principle, to change their specialties, institutions, or the duration of study specified in the Admission Notice after registration.

China government scholarship

Application of China's government scholarship program for the upcoming 2012-2013 academic year has started.
Sponsored by China's Ministry of Education (MOE), the Government Scholarship Program provides full and partial scholarships to international students and scholars to study in China. Recipients will be studying or doing research in Chinese universities or research institutes in a variety of subjects, including medicine, agriculture, law, management, history, economics, etc. (see much on CUCAS find a program)
 The China Scholarship Council (CSC) under the MOE is responsible for recruiting candidates for the program. Those who are interested in applying can refer to www.csc.edu.cn/laihua to check application procedures. Download the application material Application form, complete it following the instruction. The deadline is April 30.
