Vice-Chancellor’s Japanese Scholarship for Master’s Students at University of Essex, UK 2012-13


Eligibility:In order to be eligible for this scholarship you need to:
-Hold an offer of admission to a one-year full-time Masters programme
-Be a national of and residing in Japan and have been affected by the 2011 Tsunami

Scholarship Description: In recognition of the fundraising efforts of the University’s Japan Tsunami Appeal and of the generosity of students and staff in supporting the Appeal, the Vice-Chancellor is offering one full (fees and maintenance) Scholarship for a student from Japan to undertake a one-year full-time postgraduate Masters course at the University. The scholarship is open to any applicant from Japan affected by the 2011 Tsunami and will be awarded on the basis of academic merit to a student who would not otherwise be able to take up a place at Essex.The scholarship will be awarded in the form of a tuition fee waiver at registration, and three termly cheques totalling £8,325 to cover the cost of subsistence throughout the year. It cannot be deferred to a later year or a different course. The selected Scholar cannot hold a full or partial fees or maintenance scholarship from another source. The scholarship is subject to the selected scholar firmly accepting the offer of study and registering as a student of the University of Essex for the 2012-13 academic year. No alternative form of the scholarship is available.This scholarship is subject to availability of funds, and details given here are subject to change at any time
