Applicants must be Stanford graduate students in good standing who have completed all requirements for their Ph.D. except the dissertation (reached TGR status). Preference is given to students who have been engaged in research overseas and thus who may have required more than the normal time necessary to complete the Ph.D. The amount of the award is determined on an individual basis contingent upon the interdepartmental faculty selection committee’s approval. Students must be registered in TGR status at the time of disbursal of award.

Scholarship Description: The purpose of the O’Bie Shultz Dissertation Completion Grant is to help meet minimal cost-of-living expenses to enable Stanford graduate students to write and complete their Ph.D. dissertations on subjects related to international studies. Funds are limited, so it is not possible to support every worthy proposal. The awards are intended to supplement other non-FSI sources of financial support and generally will not include tuition. Awards from this application cycle are intended to be disbursed during the 2012-13 academic year.
