International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS), University of Western Sydney (UWS) Australia

International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) are a tuition fee scholarship for full-time study towards a higher degree by research.  These prestigious scholarships are funded by the Australian Government. UWS supports IPRS awardees with a living allowance and overseas student health cover.

Eligibility

Students from any overseas country, except New Zealand, who are commencing a new research degree course and do not already hold an equivalent degree are eligible to apply. How will my application be ranked?

International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) 2013, Murdoch University, Australia

The International Postgraduate Research Studentship (IPRS) is available to international students who wish to undertake a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor of Education (EdD) or Master by Research (MPhil) and includes tuition fees, health insurance premiums and a living allowance. Scholarships are awarded on academic merit, research experience and/or potential. Applicants should possess an honours degree (at least upper second-class honours) or equivalent.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Applicants must provide evidence of having achieved Murdoch University English language proficiency requirements. These requirements are IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0) or TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language/ internet based) - Minimum score of 90 with no band less than 20. Exceptions include Nursing and Education which have an IELTS requirement of 7.0.

THE FOLLOWING APPLICANTS ARE INELIGIBLE FOR A SCHOLARSHIP UNDER THE SCHEME:

• New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
• International applicants who have completed a degree at the same or higher level.

• International applicants who are currently studying on a scholarship sponsored by AUSAID or have just completed study on such a scholarship. These students are required to return to their home country for at least one year before returning to Australia.
• Applicants who have held a Studentship previously, unless it was terminated within three months of the commencement of benefits.
• International applicants who are in receipt of another equivalent award, scholarship or salary to undertake the proposed study (an ‘equivalent’ stipend would be regarded as one greater than 75% of the base studentship stipend rate). Income earned from sources unrelated to the course of study is not subject to the 75% rule.

Benefits

Murdoch University provides the successful applicant with a living allowance of AUD $26,200 per annum (2013 rate). The scholarship also includes health insurance which covers the student and their spouse and dependants (if any) for the period of the IPRS. Under the IPRS conditions, travel and relocation costs are the responsibility of the applicant however Murdoch University provides their IPRS recipients with a (partial) allowance for relocation and airfares (based on receipts). Murdoch students also have access to a conference travel allowance once during the course of their degree, maintenance funding set by the Schools and a thesis production allowance.

Tenure

The award is for a maximum of three years for PhD and EdD studies and two years for MPhil. An extension of up to 6 months may be granted for PhD candidates.

The objective of the USydIS is to attract top quality international postgraduate students to undertake research projects which will enhance the University's research activities. The USydIS is open to all research disciplines; however participation in the USydIS program each semester is at the discretion of the Dean of each faculty. Denmark : PhD scholarships in Finance

General information:

A PhD scholarship runs for a period of 3 years, and includes teaching obligations equivalent of ½ year’s work (840 work hours). The scholarships are fully salaried positions, according to the national Danish collective agreement. The scholarship includes the tuition fees, office space, travel grants plus a salary, currently starting with DKK 24.080 (app.3.229 EUR) monthly up to DKK 29.341 (app. 3935 EUR) depending on seniority, plus a pension contribution totalling 17,1 % of 85 per cent of the base salary.

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).

Indonesia : PhD scholarship on REDD+

The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), Bogor, Indonesia and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) School of Economics and Business jointly offers a 3.5 year PhD scholarship on the topic of REDD+ (reference emission levels, drivers and incentive mechanisms).

CIFOR advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in developing countries. CIFOR is a CGIAR Research Center. Our headquarters are in Bogor, Indonesia, and we have offices in Asia, Africa and South America.

UMB is recognized as a leading international centre of knowledge, focused on higher education and research within environment and biosciences. A broad range of study programs are offered at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels to a total of some 4200 students. The School of Economics and Business has about 55 staff members and 600 students, of whom 30 are PhD students. The position

The position is for 3.5 years. The PhD degree at UMB requires course work of 60 credits (ECTS, equivalent of one year's study) and the successful defense of the PhD thesis. Time will be spent at UMB (Norway), CIFOR HQ (Bogor, Indonesia) and in the country of choice for fieldwork, with the exact allocation of time to be agreed upon. The expected uptake date is August 2013.

A scholarship of USD 2,200 per month will be provided by CIFOR. Additional funds for travel and fieldwork are available. The scholarship grantee will be covered by the Norwegian Public Health and Social Security System while in Norway during study periods longer than 6 months.

Thematic focus

The PhD scholar will be part of the research project "Global Comparative Study on REDD+" (GCS), led by CIFOR, and module 3 on MRV systems and reference levels. A major research question is how to set reference (emission) levels, including how drivers of deforestation and forest degradation can be integrated in a quantitative way, and - by extension - how to design and implement REDD+ incentive systems at different scales (national, regional, local). The PhD scholar is expected to work on a sub-topic within this overall question and in one or more of the six main countries of GCS (Indonesia, Vietnam, Tanzania, Cameroon, Brazil, Peru). A full research proposal is to be developed during the first six months of the scholarship.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a master's degree in economics or related field. Skills and experience in statistical analysis and in remote sensing are considered an asset. The assessment criteria will also include analytical abilities and grades, team-working skills, relevant experience, motivation and other factors that will increase the probability of a successful completion of the PhD.

Nowadays, modern medical imaging such as CT, MRI, or 3D ultrasound plays a key role for medical diagnosis, operation planning, and intervention. Computer assisted methods help the physician in analysing, visualising and interpreting big datasets.

The proposed PhD topics address challenges in the field of computer-aided detection and statistical modelling of organs and anatomical structures of the human body. The research goal is to develop new automatic methods to assist doctors in diagnosis, intervention and operation planning.


The programme:

Germany : Master Program in Mind and Brain

As of the winter semester 2013/14 (beginning 1st October 2013) the Berlin School of Mind and Brain will be offering the English-language interdisciplinary master's program Mind and Brain.
The master’s program is aimed at students with a BA degree in psychology, philosophy, neuroscience, linguistics, biology, cognitive science or related subjects.
There is no tuition fee!
The application period is from 1st to 31st May 2013.
The structure of the master’s program allows students to choose between three areas of specialization: (1) psychology or neuroscience, (2) philosophy or linguistics, (3) academic
management. Depending on the area of specialization, one of two different degrees may be awarded: the first area of specialization leads to a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree
(Track Brain), the two other areas of specialization lead to a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree (Track Mind).

Quentin Bryce Law Doctoral Scholarship at University of Technology Sydney, Australia 2013

The Faculty of Law offers Quentin Bryce Law Doctoral Scholarships. The scholarships are offered for commencing Doctor of Philosophy students to promote and reward quality research in the field of law. The researchers will be awarded with a stipend of $30,000 per annum for 3 years, a research support fund of $1,500 per annum and paid holiday, sick, maternity, and parenting leave. The scholarships are open to domestic and international students.

China/Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Scholarship, China 2013

The Ministry of Education of China offers scholarship in China for non-Chinese citizens from PIF member countries. The scholarship is offered to pursue degree program (undergraduate, master’s and doctoral) and is also open for general and senior scholars. Full scholarship is offered covering tuition fees and other related expenses and also provides living allowance which varies from courses to courses. The applicants can apply till April 30, 2013.

Study Subject(s): The students can pursue the courses offered at Chinese HEIs. Applicants with no command of Chinese are generally required to take one to two years’ Chinese language course (for undergraduates program applicants, one to two years’ college preparatory courses) prior to the academic study. Only by passing the examinations after the above courses, could they start their academic studies. For those who need to take the Chinese language courses or college preparatory courses, the scholarship duration will be extended automatically.

Course Level: The scholarship is available for undergraduates, master’s, doctoral and general and senior scholars.

Eligibility: 1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens from PIF member countries and be in good health.

2. Education background and age limit:

-Applicants for undergraduate studies must have senior high school diploma with good grade and be under the age of 25.

-Applicants for master’s degree studies must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35.

-Applicants for Doctoral degree studies must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

-Applicants for Chinese training program must have senior high school diploma and be under the age of 35, Chinese language is the only subject available.

-Applicants for general scholar candidates must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies and be under the age of 45.

-Applicants for senior scholar candidates must have master’s degree or above, or hold academic titles of associate professor or above, and be under the age of 50.

Scholarship Open for International Students: The non-Chinese citizens from PIF member countries (Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu) can apply for the scholarship.

Scholarship Description: China/Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) scholarship program is a full scholarship provided for PIF member countries by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE). MOE entrusts China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) to manage the recruitment and carry out the routine management of this scholarship program.

Selection of Institutions and Specialties: Applicants may choose one academic program and three institutions as their preferences from the Chinese HEIs designated by MOE. Please check the Directory of Chinese Higher Institutions Admitting International Students under Chinese Government Scholarship Program. Only the listed Chinese HEIs in the Directory are available to the applicants for their study in China.
