For excellent Non-EU/EEA students enrolling in a Leiden University master’s degree programme and for excellent students from all nationalities enrolling in a Master of Law Advanced Programme or MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy.

* Non-EU/EEA students enrolling in a Leiden University master’s degree programme starting September 2012 or February 2013 ( All MA, MSc and LL.M programmes as mentioned on the website Master’s programmes in Leiden).
* All nationalities enrolling in the following programmes starting September 2012 or February 2013:

Scholarship Amount:

The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship programme has 5 awards:

Platinum	Covers the tuition fee minus the home fee* and an allowance of €10,000 for living costs
Gold	Covers the tuition fee minus the home fee*
Silver	Covers 75% of the tuition fee
Bronze	Covers 50% of the tuition fee
Ivory	Covers 25 % of the tuition fee

The number and type of award of the scholarship depends on the budget available for each Faculty department. The type of award has no reflection on the students’ academic level of excellence.

* The tuition fee will be reduced to the amount of the home fee. Students who have been awarded a Platinum or Gold award still have to pay the home fee themselves.

Description of research group and project

The Högberg research group is a small research group interested in building molecular tools out of DNA and in developing new ways of building self-assembled nanoscale object using DNA and other bio-molecules. Further, we would like to explore the use of these kinds of devices for therapeutic and/or diagnostic applications and cell signaling studies.
In general, our work involves the use of computer aided design and programming to calculate DNA sequences to be ordered or produced, followed by microbiology lab work to produce DNA and to fold the DNA into desired structures. Electron microscopy is used to study the structures once formed.

For this project the student will create protein-DNA nanostructures to be used to study cell signaling in-vitro.

Duties and responsibilities
We are looking for a chemist who is interested in working with DNA nanostructure production and protein-DNA conjugation. The PhD studies include 4 years full time work. This includes courses, seminars, conferences and scientific work. Furthermore, the project will give the student a possibility to develop an international collaborative network for future research. Eligibility/Qualifications
The applicant must fulfil the criteria for eligibility for PhD education at Karolinska Institutet (see below). Good skills in collaboration are important to maintain a network of researchers within the PhD-project. Excellent abilities in English, both oral and written, are required. Documented analytic skills and knowledge in the areas of: DNA nanotechnology, organic chemistry, DNA-protein conjugation are also requirements.

Sasol Postgraduate Bursary Scheme

Sasol Bursary Scheme is a talent based scheme, as a result, only applicants who meet the minimum criteria will be invited to a selection interview. It is a comprehensive package that covers both financial as well as developmental support throughout the study period. All applications are done electronically, not only to speed up the selection process but also to ensure fairness and electronic tracking of applications received within a particular period. Consequently, we give preference to those candidates with an exceptional academic record who also participate in extra curricular activities. Due consideration is also given to those individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who meet our minimum requirements. Applications for a Sasol bursary close on 29 February 2012. We prefer to receive all applications online via our online application process found at this site.

This speeds up the process and ensures comprehensive electronic tracking of all applications. We receive, on average, 5000 applications each year. These applications are screened by our recruitment office and results in between 300 and 400 individuals being invited to attend an interview. Of these, only 80 to 100 will be awarded a Sasol bursary.

The number of bursaries awarded each year is dependent on the business need. Consequently, failure to secure a Sasol bursary is not necessarily due to poor performance on the part of the applicant but may be a reflection of insufficient business demand. 2012 USTA/Midwest Section Scholarships

Tim & Tom Gullikson Scholarship This scholarship was established in January 1998 to recognize Tim and Tom Gullikson and to reward youth players with funding to advance their educational and tennis interests. Each year, a $2,500 scholarship is presented to one female and one male junior tennis player from the USTA/Midwest Section.

Master Scholarship From RCA-KAIST, Korea, 2012

1. Overview
The RCA-KAIST Master’s Degree Programme of the Department of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering, KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) is designed to educate and train high-caliber students from the RCA Member States with the aim to preserve and enhance nuclear technology for RCA Member States. The graduates of the programme have been contributing to the developments of nuclear and radiation technology for the graduates’ countries by working in government supported R&D institutions, or government funded enterprises, universities etc. as elite leaders.
This programme has been implemented since March 2003 and 25 students in total from 11 countries have been accepted up to now. To finish the course it takes up to 2 years regularly and students must satisfy certain requirements.

2. RCA Scholarship
Scholarships value/inclusions::
-    Application fee (50,000 Korean Won)
-    2 years Tuition (Approx. 8,000,000 Korean Won per academic year)
-    Stipend (900,000 Korean Won/month): to be paid monthly on 25th of each month for up to two years.
-    The economy-class one-way airfare from the nearest airport of the originating country to Incheon, Korea.
NOTE:
-     The local transportation from the air port to Daejeon, and the returning air fare after finishing the course is not covered by the programme.
-     On-campus housing (dormitory) can be arranged but the cost must be borne individually. At present, a shared room by 2 persons at KAIST costs about 600,000 Korean Won/semester (may change slightly) and must be paid at the beginning of each semester.
-     KAIST does not provide family housing for married students during the first year. It can be provided in the second year, but there is a high competition. So students who want to bring his/her family must bear that the rental apartment near KAIST is quite expensive.
-     The meals in the Campus cafeteria cost around 4,000 Korean Won per meal.
-     Medical insurance fee of approximately 40,000 Korean Won/month also to be borne individually.

PhD Position in Economics at the University of Konstanz, Germany

The new chair of "International and Monetary Macroeconomics" (Volker Hahn, http://www.cer.ethz.ch/mip/people/vhahn/) at the University of Konstanz invites applications for a position as a research assistant. Gross salary will be 50% of a full time position in accordance with the regulations of German TV-L13.

The position is available from March, 2012, for an initial duration of three years (with a possible extension). The successful candidate will contribute to the chair's research and teaching responsibilities. 5) Fee for outpatient medical service refers to the outpatient expense incurred in the CQU hospital or the hospitals appointed by CQU. The students should pay a certain percentage of expense in accordance with the institution’s relevant regulations.
6) Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China is insured by Ministry of Education of China for the scholarship students in China against diseases and accidents. The institution is entitled to ask for compensation on the payment receipts from the insurance company for the expenses generated from hospitalizing for serious diseases or from accidental injury according to the stipulated insurance articles.
7) A one-off inter-city travel ticket (each for coming-in and leaving China)
Scholarship students are supposed to choose the nearest port to their admitting institutions for inter-city travel and a hard-seat train ticket (hard-berth train ticket for overnight trip) will be provided to freshmen transferring from the port of entry to the city where the admitting institution is located and students finishing study in China transferring from the city where the institution is located to the nearest port for departure. Expenses for food during the trip and excess of baggage should be self-afforded.
International travel expenses shall be self-afforded.

China government scholarship

Application of China's government scholarship program for the upcoming 2012-2013 academic year has started.

Sponsored by China's Ministry of Education (MOE), the Government Scholarship Program provides full and partial scholarships to international students and scholars to study in China. Since 2010, Università Ca' Foscari Venezia (Italy) has offered a two-year MSc program in "Informatica - Computer Science" (www.unive.it/msc-computer-science) taught in English, which is suitable for students with diverse academic backgrounds. The program unfolds into three semesters of full-time lectures and labs. During the last semester students work on an individual project and dissertation.

The program covers the theory and practice of a wide spectrum of fields in Computer Science and Information Technology, and allows students to pursue a minor in Statistics.
Three suggested sub-programs, resulting from selecting a specific group of elective courses, are the following: (1) Information Sciences and Intelligent Systems sub-program, (2) Software Dependability and IT Security sub-program, and (3) Information Systems and Statistical Analysis.

Candidates who hold a foreign degree, equivalent to a tree-year Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science or related subject (Computer/Electroni c Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, etc.), and are proficient in English, can apply.

Candidates can ask for a pre-evaluation of their qualification and school career (www.unive.it/ evaluation) before starting the official enrolment procedure (the on-line pre-evaluation procedure is open from Jan 15th to May 15th, 2012).
Only students who complete successfully the pre-evaluation procedure by May 15th, 2012 can be awarded with the university international scholarships.

This pre-evaluation procedure is particularly important for non-EU citizens residing abroad, who have to apply as early as possible (we suggest long before the deadline of May 15th, 2012). These students, once received the acceptance letter, have to submit a further pre-enrolment application to an Italian Diplomatic Delegation in order to transmit us all the original documents, and to start as soon a possible a pretty long process to obtain an Italian Student Visa.

FHI 360′s Global Health Research Fellowship

FHI 360′s Global Health Research Fellowship provides highly motivated master’s-level graduates with an opportunity to work with world-renowned researchers in global health. Research topics include reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and other infectious diseases. The program offers fellows practical experience in research operations and an opportunity to expand their research skills by making important contributions to specific research studies.

Fellowship Objectives
During the full time, two-year fellowship, fellows will have the opportunity to:

• Learn about clinical and behavioral research studies;
• Participate in FHI 360 research activities; and
• Play a role in developing international capacity in public health research.

Program Summary
FHI’s Global Health Research Fellowship accepts up to two applicants each year to participate in a two-year, post-graduate program located at FHI 360′s headquarters in Durham, North Carolina. Each fellow will be mentored by a cadre of experienced FHI 360 scientists. The fellows will have an opportunity to work with multidisciplinary research teams from a variety of departments.
During the program, fellows are able to participate in several phases of a new or ongoing clinical/behavioral study, including study monitoring; protocol development; data management; and IRB submission and review processes. Fellows will also have the opportunity to learn about and participate in research activities in areas such as clinical science; behavioral and social sciences; health service delivery; operations research; monitoring and evaluation; and more.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply to the Global Health Research Fellowship, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

• A master’s graduate degree with a strong understanding of global health research, obtained within 12 months prior to beginning the fellowship in July;
• Hold a record of high academic standing;
• Eligible to work in the U.S. and travel internationally;
• Able to make a two-year commitment to FHI 360 Headquarters in Durham, NC, USA;
• Able to work 40 hours/week.

To be considered, applications must be received by February 14, 2012. Selected candidates will be invited to FHI for interviews, and the selected Global Health Research Fellow(s) will be notified by the beginning of May. The program begins in early July. Interested applicants are required to submit the following materials:

• Two letters of recommendation, at least one of which is from graduate faculty from your school who can comment on the application’s academic performance and potential for clinical and behavioral research;

International Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships (IPCS) at Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Sydney, Australia

South Africa 2012 Scholarship for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs

Application Deadline : Applications close on 30 April 2012 for students commencing in July 2012.

Eligibility Requirements

Scholarships will only be available to applicants who

1. are citizens of South Africa;
2. have applied to Griffith University and who satisfy all appropriate entry requirements for the proposed degree program, including results of previous tertiary level studies, secondary school level studies and English language proficiency as per Griffith University’s Admission Policy for Undergraduate or Postgraduate (coursework) Programs
3. will be commencing (not existing) students at Griffith University;
4. are enrolling as a full-time student in a degree at Griffith University; and
5. must not have previously been awarded this scholarship

Application Requirements

Applicant selection will be based upon:

1. strong academic merit, a certified/attested true copy of supporting documentation must be submitted with application;
2. demonstrated leadership ability, applications should include at least one professional reference;

Selection Process

The International Summer School (ISS) Scholarship 2012

The International Summer School (ISS) offers intensive Master’s and Bachelor’s courses over six weeks. We welcome more than 550 students from nearly 100 countries from late June to early August.

Scholarship applicants

Many applicants will find that they are academically qualified to attend ISS, but they will not meet the requirements set by the scholarship donors. Many scholarship applicants are academically qualified to attend the ISS, but they do not meet the requirements for a scholarship. As a result, the application will be rejected.

To be a successful scholarship candidate you will need to demonstrate:

• that your academic background is related to the course you wish to take;
• that your professional background/goals are related to the course you wish to take;
• financial need;
• personal qualities that make you a good representative of your country.

Competition for scholarships is high. Many scholarship applicants are rejected in the Pre-Application phase. At this point, the applicant can switch the status to “self-paying” or “sponsored” and try to find the funding from a source outside the ISS.

The Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program 2012

The Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program grants 20 awards of $5 000 each annually, to be applied directly towards tuition, books, room and board (where applicable) or other educational expenses for the first year of post-secondary full-time studies in Canada.

Cultivating Tomorrow’s Environmental Leaders
Every day, in communities across Canada, young people are actively demonstrating their passion for the environment through the important work they accomplish. These dedicated young Canadians are emerging as tomorrow’s environmental leaders and advocates.
Toyota Canada and the Toyota Canada Foundation in partnership with Earth Day Canada established the Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program to help cultivate and nurture this environmental leadership.

The Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program encourages and rewards graduating Canadian high school students who have distinguished themselves through environmental community service, extracurricular and volunteer activities, and academic excellence. To date, Toyota Canada, the Toyota Canada Foundation and Earth Day Canada (EDC) have awarded 140 students with $700 000 in scholarships. The Toyota Earth Day Scholarship is Canada’s best recognized environmental entrance scholarship.

Environmental issues are increasingly being tackled through multidisciplinary approaches.
