Denmark : PhD position in Design for Micro Manufacturing


DTU Mechanical Engineering has an open PhD position in the field of Design for Micro Manufacturing.

Job description
The objective of the project is to stimulate new and innovative solutions for micro manufacturing through the use of design methods. The main goal is to analyse and further develop design methods and methodologies, which for example could include functional analysis, DfM, axiomatic design and bio-inspired design methods. Furthermore, it is expected to include evaluation of sustainability issues using life cycle analysis in the design approach.

Qualifications
  • M.Sc. in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with design methodologies and their practical application
  • Good knowledge of micro manufacturing methods and related environmental analysis of micro components
  • Ability to work independently, to plan and carry out complicated tasks, and to be a part of a large, dynamical group
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
Approval and EnrolmentThe scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. Salary and appointment terms
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
